The city of Trim in Hadramout Governorate witnessed protests yesterday evening, Friday, in protest against the deteriorating living conditions and public services, especially the electricity service. In the demonstration, the protesters chanted slogans denouncing the power outages and the deterioration of living conditions, and demanding the dismissal of the governor, Mabkhout bin Madhi, and the departure of the "government of corruption." Videos on social media showed the military forces chasing the demonstrators in the streets of the city with weapons from their sit-in site in the city of Trim, causing a state of terror and panic among the neighborhoods of the city. Local sources reported that demonstrators were wounded by the bullets of the military forces. The city witnessed an intense security and military deployment at a number of entrances to the city, and some neighborhoods near the international line. The Hadramout Tribal Alliance issued a strongly worded statement following the bloody events in the city of Trim, where unarmed citizens were subjected to direct fire from the military and security forces in Wadi Hadramout and the desert. The statement explained that the blatant attacks on peaceful demonstrators demanding their legitimate rights and living in dignity constitute a flagrant violation of the most basic human rights. The alliance affirmed its categorical rejection of the recurrence of these attacks, noting that the citizens belonging to the alliance constitute a single social fabric that cannot be ignored or divided. The statement pointed out that any attack on members of the alliance is an attack on the entire alliance, warning that the response will be reciprocal in defense of right, land, and dignity. The statement stated that the Hadramout Tribal Alliance remains committed to defending the rights of the people of Hadramout in the face of any threat or violation, stressing the unity of the tribes and their adherence to the Hadramout project, which seeks to achieve justice and dignity for the people of the region. The statement indicated that the recent attacks come at a sensitive time, which calls for everyone to stand together to protect the rights of citizens and the legitimate demands expressed by the peaceful protesters.
