Aden police announced on Monday that they had thwarted a Houthi group's plan to carry out a series of assassinations against military and security leaders inside the city. The police said in a statement that they had dismantled a cell linked to the Houthis that was planning to carry out terrorist attacks, explaining that its forces in Dar Saad district arrested a number of suspects who had been recruited and trained in areas under the group's control. Investigations – according to the statement – indicated a direct link between the cell members and "Amjad Khaled Farhan," who is accused of supervising the movements and providing financial and logistical support to it. The police explained that the detainees underwent combat training in secret camps in the Al-Houban area, east of Taiz, which included the use of automatic weapons, RPG launchers, and the manufacture of explosive devices, in addition to training on operating drones, according to "Sky News Arabia." According to the statement, the cell members also confessed to receiving extremist intellectual and ideological courses in Saada, Sanaa, and Dhamar, and that their mission was to carry out operations aimed at destabilizing security in Aden and monitoring the movements of prominent military and security officials. The police added that Farhan provided constant financial support to the cell members, including monthly salaries and expenses for transportation and accommodation, noting that some members were sent back to Aden for the purpose of camouflage by surrendering themselves to the authorities to provide cover that would later help them move inside the city.
