Arab Sea - Follow-ups: A drone, believed to be a US military MQ-9 Reaper, carried out two airstrikes at dawn today, Monday, on locations in Shabwa Governorate, southwestern Yemen, suspected of harboring elements of the "Al-Qaeda" organization, according to local and media sources. According to the sources, the first raid targeted a house in "Khura Valley in Markha Al-Sufla Directorate," one of the areas where the organization's cells are active. Minutes later, a second raid targeted a car near the first site, believed to be carrying militants. The sources confirmed that a number of people were killed and wounded as a result of the two raids, while no party has yet announced an accurate toll of the victims. The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) or the Yemeni government has not issued an official comment so far. These raids come at a time when US military movements against extremist organizations in Yemen have escalated, especially in the rugged areas of Shabwa, Abyan, and Al-Bayda, which are considered traditional strongholds of "Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula." Observers believe that these strikes are part of a continuous US strategy to target leaders and elements of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, which is considered one of the most dangerous branches of the organization globally, exploiting the state of instability that the country has been experiencing since the outbreak of the war more than eight years ago.
