Saudi Program and World Bank Discuss Expanding Development Partnerships in Yemen

Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups The General Supervisor of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber, discussed with a delegation from the World Bank, headed by the Regional Director of the World Bank in Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti, Stefan Guimbert, ways to enhance existing development cooperation between the two sides and expand development partnerships in Yemen. The meeting, attended by the Director of the World Bank Group office in Yemen, Dina Abu Ghaida, and a number of program and World Bank staff, at the program's headquarters in Riyadh, reviewed the results achieved in a number of joint projects, most notably the "Lifeline Project," which is one of the most prominent models of cooperation between the program and the World Bank to support the transport sector in the Republic of Yemen. The meeting addressed areas of cooperation proposed between the two sides in a number of vital sectors, which would contribute to improving daily life in the Republic of Yemen. The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen is implementing the Al-Abbr road expansion and rehabilitation project and the Hejat Al-Abd road rehabilitation project in cooperation with the World Bank within the "Lifeline Project," and as an extension of the program's projects and initiatives supporting the sector, which have contributed to raising the efficiency of vital roads, improving infrastructure, enhancing access and social cohesion, developing and building capacities in the transport sector, providing job opportunities, and promoting economic movement.
