Arab Sea_Follow-ups: 12 countries supported the Security Council's approval of the American plan for Gaza, and 3 countries abstained from voting, without using the veto. The countries that voted in favor of the resolution were the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, as well as Brazil, India, Nigeria, Mexico, Ireland, Norway, Indonesia, and South Africa. These countries welcomed the resolution as an important step to consolidate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as to affirm the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state. In contrast, Russia, China, and Brazil abstained from voting, expressing reservations about some of the resolution's provisions, considering them insufficient to address all aspects of the crisis, but they did not resort to using the veto, which allowed the resolution to pass. This resolution comes amid increasing tensions in the Middle East, and intensive international efforts to reach a peaceful settlement of the crisis in Gaza, amid repeated calls to end the violence and start political negotiations based on the two-state solution, and guarantee the rights of both parties. The resolution expresses the international community's support for the American efforts aimed at settling the conflict, and urges all parties to abide by their commitments, and work to create an environment that helps to resume direct political dialogue between the Palestinians and the Israelis. This vote represents a prominent diplomatic step, and reflects the great international support for the peace plan presented by the United States, despite the continued existence of differences in some details between members of the Council, and it is expected to form a basis for launching more comprehensive talks aimed at ending the conflict. The resolution also emphasizes the need to ensure full access to humanitarian aid for the residents of Gaza, and calls for reconstruction and cessation of actions that undermine peace opportunities, while emphasizing support for international and regional initiatives aimed at achieving long-term stability in the region.
