In a suicide attack, the first in Islamabad in years, 12 people were killed and 27 others injured on Tuesday in front of a court complex in a residential area. Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi explained that the attacker tried to enter the court building on foot, but detonated the explosive device outside, near a police car, after waiting for 10 to 15 minutes. For its part, the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, stressing that it would continue to target those who issue, implement, and protect "un-Islamic rulings" until Sharia law is implemented throughout the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused "terrorist agents supported by India" of being behind the attack, referring to the Pakistani Taliban and separatists from Balochistan, who had previously carried out similar attacks targeting security forces. This attack comes one day after a car exploded in New Delhi, killing 8 people.
